France vs Italy Match Preview: Zidane's France Faces Mancini's Italy in Paris
France vs Italy match preview from the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League at Stade de France.
France vs Italy brings a major European football matchup to the Stade de France as the two national teams meet in the third round of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League. The Group A1 fixture is also an important test for both teams early in the league phase.
France entered the match with two victories from two games. The French team defeated Türkiye 1-0 before producing another 1-0 win against Belgium. The results gave France six points and kept the team at the top of Group A1.
France Looking to Continue Perfect Start
Zinedine Zidane's France has made a positive beginning under the new coach. The team has won both Nations League matches without conceding a goal, although the attacking setup has attracted attention because of the absence of captain Kylian Mbappé.
Mbappé picked up a knee injury during the victory over Türkiye and was ruled out of the Italy fixture. Michael Olise was one of the main attacking players in focus after scoring the late winner against Belgium.
Italy Enter With Renewed Confidence
Italy started the competition with a 2-0 defeat against Belgium but produced a much stronger display in the following match. Roberto Mancini's team defeated Türkiye 4-1 away from home.
Italy's goals came from Alessandro Bastoni, Davide Frattesi, Michael Kayode and Pio Esposito. The result provided an important boost before the team travelled to Paris.
The France vs Italy matchup therefore features two teams arriving with different recent results but clear ambitions in Group A1. France wants to maintain its unbeaten start, while Italy aims to build on its response against Türkiye.
With the history between the two countries and the importance of the Nations League standings, the meeting at Stade de France remains one of the most notable football fixtures of the matchday.
